Often times people are going through life changes and put up really great pets for adoption on Craigslist.  It never hurts to do a quick search of the Tri-boro area to see if there are any great dogs being given away for free, often times with accessories and supplies.  Definitely add that to your to do list if you are searching for a pet to adopt.
